Kissimmee (/ki'simi:/ ki-SIM-ee) named and incorporated in 1883. The name Kissimmee came from "Cacema" that means "long water". Kissimmee is a family-oriented residential city in Osceola County, Florida. The City of Kissimmee was originally a small trading post on the northern bank of Lake Tohopekaliga known as the community of Allendale.
